2-25-12 letter

Dear family,
I am still doing way good here in the MTC! It’s pretty much things as usual here, its all pretty routine.  I was released as District Leader this week, and so Elder Yates is taking over.  We are starting to get really close to leaving for the field, so we are definitely starting to get excited.  Oh and thanks so much for the feedback you guys gave about keeping the commandments! Way great stuff! I am getting confident with my Spanish so hopefully that stays until I get out into the field.  I’m glad you guys had a fun time in Park City, I wish I could have come and gone skiing.  Sadly I don’t have a lot of time, so I’ll try to fit in as much as I can.  Anyways, it really has been a great week.  I am getting soooo into the Book of Mormon! Sometimes I seriously have a hard time stopping when I have to do other things.  It is so crazy true!  Anyways I better go but I can’t wait to hear from you guys again!
Sincerely,
Elder Jacob Hatch

2-18-12 Letter

Dear family,
It has been a great week her at the MTC!  I have now been here a full five weeks!  I got your package right on Valentine’s Day and it was wonderful!  The post office was pretty backed up, so I had to wait in line to get it.  It must be insane on Christmas! Anyways, thank you for the candy, valentines, puzzles, and of course that awesome tie! It has really been so great here!  I don’t know what it was but something clicked and I am legitimately excited to get out into the field!  I’ve been planning, studying, even trying to eat healthy! (I put lettuce on a sandwich I had a couple days ago) I’ve actually been running a lot in my gym time lately too.  (Dad, I ran a 5:50 mile the other day! I still got it!) Anyways, it really has been gre4at.  Elder LaMunyon got a letter that said he’s going to be an uncle! So he’s been pretty excited all week.  Haha funny guy.  Anyways, I hope you guys are all feeling better after all your accidents and illnesses, that’s no fun!  Oh, and I actually really enjoyed getting The Bulb.  It was pretty fun reading about how JP is doing. And mom, I am definitely writing a lot in my journal almost every night.

Make sure you tell Rich and Jen good luck for me!  I hope their adoption works out, and I will remember them in my prayers.  Also, ask Alice if she knew an Elder Doxey on her mission, because he’s one of my teachers now.  You have to tell me how Tyler’s musical went.  That’s pretty exciting! Sadly, I don’t have enough time today to write individual letters to everybody, but make sure to tell him good job, and I have played most of the songs that he sent me!

Anyways, I just want you guys to know that my testimony is growing so much here.  Quiero saber a ustedes que mi testimonio es creciendo mchisimo mientras estoy aqui.  I am learning so much, and I am becoming so excited to go out to New Mexico, (or Texas) Soy aprendiendo mucho, y estoy muy animato por New Mexico. HaHA ya, my Spanish is still definitely flawed, but getting better every day! This week I actually have a special request for you guys.  Right now, I am studying about how keeping the commandments (specifically the W.O.W., tithing, and attending church) can really bless lives.  I would love it if you guys, and anybody else who wants to could study with me.  I would love if you could send me stories, quotes, scriptures, or ideas about this topic.  I want you all to know that I love this gospel.  I know it is so true, and I can’t wait to share that with the people in my mission!  I can’t wait to hear from you again!
Sincerely,
Elder Jacob Hatch

"Slick-back Saturday" Lookin' like a prophet (and yes, that's as far back as my hair would go.)

Dear family,

Hello from the MTC! It’s crazy but I have been here for a month.  So pretty much I ‘m already a perfect missionary totally fluent in Spanish. (not) Actually, not much has really happened this week.  We got a new district with another Elder Hatch.  He’s pretty cool, but I don’t think we are related.  It’s crazy how quickly time flies here at the MTC.  I’m sending some more pictures with this letter, so hopefully you guys like them! BTw I would love to send my bedding back, but I sadly do not have a box to do so…And also, its not like I actually need anymore, but if you guys run into some sweet tie sale, think of me! (stripes and plaids rock)

It’s pretty funny, but I didn’t even remember it was the superbowl until I got letters saying who won, and it’s great to hear BYU had a good game too! Spanish is actually going pretty well here, and I’m getting a lot better at teaching as well.  I’m reading the BOM (Book of Mormon) like a crazy person here!  I read almost 200 pages in the last couple weeks, and the meaning and applications are so much clearer now that that’s all I do!  I feel the spirit here so much but I feel like it’s less in the big devotionals and more in the smaller classroom setting.  My teachers, Hermanos Bailey y Harris, are soooo awesome.

Mom, I actually have dinner at about 5 so it’s not too bad.  That’s great that Joel got his mission call, tell him congratulations for me!  Anyways, I don’t actually have a lot to talk about today so I will end there.  I can’t wait to hear from you guys again!

2-4-12 letter

Dear family,
Well it has now been 3 weeks at the MTC and so much has happened. It was actually really cool because it was the 50th anniversary of the MTC this Tuesday, so at devotional we heard from Jeffery R Holland AND Russell M Nelson! Way cool, and they dedicated some of the refurbished buildings here too.  Awesome spiritual  experiences.  I actually got to sing in the MTC choir this week too.  Anyways, my companion Elder LaMunyon had some serious nosebleeds that wouldn’t stop, so we got to go to the hospital twice.  He’s better now though.  Also, I was talking to one of the Spanish teachers in my zone that actually had my same mission, and she said that she spent her entire mission in Texas. It was also Elder Long’s birthday (19) this week so he got a lot of goodies that he shared.  I am glad you guys finally watched Super 8! I loved that one!  Mom, I have gotten to welcome in new elders a couple time now which is pretty fun.  Anyways thank you guys for the prayers and support!
